A Poem by a Loving Arms Pet Placement Foster
I brought a foster dog home today,
He loves his new playmates and new place to stay.
He’s young and rambunctious, yet amazingly keen.
He’s tall and handsome, strong and lean.
Today my foster dog came when I called,
And he learned how to sit, and play fetch with the ball.
He likes to go for walks in the park,
And never tires until long after dark.
My foster dog is out of control;
He destroyed the flowers, the yard’s full of holes.
The TV has been out since he dug up the cable.
He likes to dance on the patio table.
My foster dog is everywhere;
He’s in every room, he’s on every chair.
He’s across the lawn chasing birds in flight.
He’s by my side when I sleep at night.
Today my foster dog jumped in my lap.
He wiggled and squirmed shifting this way and that.
With a tired sigh I told him to stop.
He looked into my eyes and stole my heart.
My foster dog was adopted today.
Part of my life has been taken away.
We were soul mates for a time, this grief who could bear?
I’ll always cherish the love that we shared.
David, Angel, Katie, Milly, and Grady
Grady was adopted in the Spring of 2010.
